About

Background:

I am currently a Senior at the College of Charleston in South Carolina. I'm originally from Johannesburg, South Africa, and have lived in many amazing places including London, Washington D.C., Boston, New York, Jackson (Wyoming), and Key West.

I tried many things before I became fascinated by code! I started out studying Pre-Med at Boston University and then changed track to study Fashion Design at Parsons the New School for Design. Even though I loved design and interning for Oscar de la Renta, something was missing. So I moved to the Keys, where I worked to become a scuba diving instructor and then my Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) Certification in the mountains of Wyoming.

What am I doing now?

Currently, I am a software engineering intern at Blackbaud, a company that develops software solutions for non-profits such as the Feeding America and Habitat for Humanity. I also work as a Research Assistant in the college's Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) Robotics Lab developing an app to voice control our DJI Phantom 4 drone. Also exciting - I just recently finished a team project with Mercedes-Benz Vans where we developed software to help them monitor their IT devices on their factory floor, which is being used on the production line here in South Carolina.

Besides competing in club programming and cybersecurity Capture-The-Flag competitions, I am also a student leader for our Google IgniteCS Mentorship program. I like to stay active at CofC by being a Student Ambassador for the Computer Science Department and tutoring Python and Java students at the Center for Student Learning.
